Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
