Much like bad weather swept through the northern region the night before, Manchester City overwhelmed the visitors away at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their leadership claims as they reinforced their position at the league summit.

Consecutive Defeats for United

This outcome represented back-to-back WSL defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the initial occasion since last May, placing them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions severely dented.
