19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.
The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to force a third set.
He defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
