A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
